Dip into salsa at Austi
A LATIN American night – with dancing, live music, Cuban food and Sangrias – will be held at the Austinmer Anglican Church next Saturday, August 13.
The Latin Live Night features 13-piece band Orquesta Kashe (the “real deal”, according to organisers), home-grown dance instructor Rosie Rusbourne and a talk about the dance of love, life and spirituality.
The church’s Outreach coordinator, Wendy Potts, said the auditorium would be transformed into a Latin nightclub – "not hard as our building is the old RSL!".
She said the talk by local couple Brett and Gillian Davis would look at relationships. “We will also have a spot to talk about the work of Homes of Hope in Chile, an organisation which is rebuilding homes after the earthquake there a couple of years ago,” Mrs Potts said.
“Brett Davis organised a team from our church to go there and build a house last year. All profits will go towards the rebuilding work.”
The fundraiser starts at 7pm at the church in Moore Street and tickets cost $25. For more information or to book (by Monday, August 8), phone 4268 3444, text 0415 597 405, visit www.austianglicanchurch.org.au or email austi49@bigpond.net.au
