Crime down; goodwill on the rise

POLICE BEAT

By Sergeant Lawrie Drury, Sector Supervisor, Helensburgh Police Station

THE incidents of break and entering homes has decreased since the last report with no significant increases in other types of crime.

Many homes do become vacant during the holiday period so it is up to neighbours to monitor any suspicious activity and report to Police.

Holidays also involve long-distance driving which can pose an increased risk of collision should you drive while tired or speeding. Police will have a large presence during the Christmas/New Year period to reduce road trauma and ensure travellers arrive at destinations safely.

Christmas is a happy time and to have families and communities affected by serious road accidents can be devastating – it is simply not worth taking increased risks on the road.

Helensburgh Police would like to take this opportunity to thank the community for your support throughout 2011 in helping us make this a safe district.
